PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — If you want to get into or out of Pender County, emergency management is asking people to not try .
“It is way to dangerous around here right now,” Pender County Emergency Management Director Tim Owens said. “You can’t get through a lot of these roads. You definitely can’t get through I-40.”
Owens says crews are hard at work try to help alleviate some of the damage the area sustained from Hurricane Florence. But there are different communities that will struggle for a while.
“The Black River is rising and it looks like it will surpass Matthew, which is why we’re asking everyone to stay clear for the time being,” Owens said.
He said for now they are unsure as to how long it will take to restore everything back to the way it was before.
